it is quite possibly the most enjoyable movie experience i've had since seeing sherlock holmes. it was big and it was loud and it was ridiculously ridiculous.

but most importantly, it was about the family. anyone who knows me knows i am all about that theme. and possibly it was propaganda for polyamourous relationships. it made my heart swell.

the movie is also about the destruction of OPP! other place's property & other place's pedestrians! i seriously cringed all over my seat. ohshittheyalmosthit! oh know! *leans to the right* NOT THE BABY! *leans to the left* THEY DID NOT JUST DO THAT!

they did in fact do that. they did EVERYTHING!

and yeah, that property went in every direction. good god, paul walker, your girlfriend and every boyfriend all in one room. no wonder you were smiling so hard.

it reaffirmed something i've always known. portuguese is the sexiest language around.

it also reaffirmed my body's incredible willingness to enjoy EVERYTHING ABOUT THE ROCK. jfc! welcome back to the world of action dwayne THE ROCK johnson. my loins have missed you.

so yes, go see it!

i think i forgot to mention that i saw thor last week. musings )

in short, movie tickets are cheaper for some reason and i plan to see a whole bunch this summer!

"You look like you're in pain."

"Running is hard. Arch support kills me. Breathing becomes labored after a while and--"

"Yeah, you might as well call her sugar tits with all that sweet milk she's got strapped to her chest."

The sensation was similar to flying, sailing through a sea of uncharted stars. Air, heat, a throbbing pain, and then he landed. When he woke minutes later, the others assured him the punch really was for suckers and he took it like a man.

"But I wouldn't look directly at her for a while unless it's necessary, man."

and if you're not too busy, you can do it too!

scrivener is offering a nanowrimo trial of their software. product name aside, i am interested if only because i still haven't found a way to organize and them implement my ideas effectively. long ideas, i mean. friends will tell you that i am an idea machine and it's true. but i always point out that the execution of said ideas is what slows me down. i can't corral myself in, structureless, i throw my hands up and then curl into a ball of self regret and bitterness. or something like that.

i actually had 3 fanfic ideas in mind, one hybrid, and then that original story i started the first time i attempted nanowrimo. the white collar!au is off the table. i think i'm going to go with the fencing!au if only because it's been hanging around in my brain for a very long time now and deserves some attempt at an actual story. my only two hang ups right now are if the story should be set in "spain," and what to do with ruben de la red and pepe reina, besides the obvious i mean. i still have my preliminary research notes about fencing and court life, dress, etc, but i never got around to doing it for england. it would be easier i suppose to create not!europe or slightlymoreidealized!europe because then i could more perfectly order history. erm. right.

who is joining me!?

ii. Out of utter curiosity, if I was chained up in your *insert place you would theoretically chain me and could that be to one of the hundred thousand crushes i have's bed kthanxiheartyousomuch*, and I had to write you one story, what would you demand? Or alternatively, what's something you always hoped I'd write but know is never going to happen?

something about the nip in the air makes me turn on the indie/folk/alt-country. it is a welcome if startling jolt after the heavy dance/hip-hop/party tracks that fill the run playlists, but i welcome the change. i think some of these songs should carry you through fall straight into winter.

little joy - with strangers
the morning benders - dreams (fleetwood mac cover)
gregory alan isakov - unwritable girl
tift merritt - after today
sera cahoone - only the day is long
the low anthem - omgcd (oh my god charlie darwin)
laura marling - rambling man
the head and the heart - lost in my mind
the tallest man on earth - kids on the run

day 3: a song that makes you happy

m-flo is my favorite japanese act. they know how to put together a tight album and are consistent with their quality and their ability to get me to move. the "m-flo loves" collaborations produce some of the best hip-hop/pop i've ever heard anywhere! narrowing it down was very hard but i eventually went with m-flo loves alex's love me after 12am because it features alex who is part of my favorite korean group, clazziquai project. his voice is amazingly mellow and i could listen to it all night long. and then it there is a break in the song that samples from digital love by daft punk, another of my most favorite songs. so i kind of get three in one? it always gets me to smile, full stop, hands up, heart light. but now i'm second guessing myself. should i have chosen digital love instead?

the original studio version is not in english but i love the life version from the cosmicolor tour.

day 02: Your least favorite song

least favorite as in from all the songs i like the one i like the least? least favorite as in from all my favorites which one is on the bottom? least favorite as in a song i do not like? if that's the case i refuse your ambiguous definitions meme! there is no way in hell i'm going to post my heart will go on in this journal!

i'm choosing my least favorite of all my favorite songs.

coming up with a list of favorite songs from multiple, often disparate, genres and narrowing it down to the top 25 took forever, and yes i am crazy but never fear, i manage it well most days! after this rather thorough cull, it is decided. my least favorite song is fireworks by animal collective. there's not much i can say about animal collective. you either like them or you hate them as the sonic explosion of awesome, innovation, strange, and repetition isn't for everyone. but i heard who could win a rabbit and was hit hard. they are for me.

man, it passes right by me it's behind me, now it's gone
i can't lift you up cause my mind is tired, it's family beaches that i desire
that sacred night where we watched the fireworks
they frightened the babies and you know they've got two flashing eyes
and if they are color blind, they make me feel, that you're only what i see sometimes
